We had a Ladies Run after the raffle on Sunday morning. The men surrendered their keys to let the women have some fun on a short and scenic run through Flux Canyon.
Sherry led the run with Dana, Denise, Kathy, Dee, Carrie and passengers. Flux Canyon goes from Harshaw Rd to Highway 82 just west of Patagonia. You'll find deep canyons, streams, a gigantic rock mountain, red hillsides and a great view of the Red Mountain Lookout Tower. I had my nieces, nephew and sister-in-law along for the ride, they took a lot of pictures of the tower in memory of their dad who was stationed up there for a summer in the early 90's.
The ladies did a great job traversing this 2 rated trail. They enjoyed the leisurely pace and lush scenery. Along the way we heard Mitch on the CB looking for us. He and a few other men thought we had gone to Temporal Gulch and they wanted to join us. As is my inherent right as a female, I had changed my mind about our destination at the last moment.
We had a raffle at the end with each female driver earning a ticket for one of three prizes. The two Poison Spider T-Shirts, donated by 4 Wheel Supply, went to mother and daughter, Dana and Denise. The gift certificate for a pedicure, that Lutz had won in the morning raffle and graciously donated to our worthy cause, went to Kathy.
The Range Riders will sponsor more Ladies Runs to encourage women to participate in their partner's sport. So far the vehicles have come back without damage, we'll have to see if we can break something on a more challenging trail!
