We went out to Gordon and Kathy's for a morning and early afternoon Mechanics/Maintenance Day. Members brought their rigs out for such things as CV joint/axle replacement, door repair, transfer case shifter repair, drive shaft boot replacement and more.
Troy brought his jeep out to repair a leak in the front axle seal but it was discovered that this job was too labor intensive given the lack of appropriate tools and time needed to remove the carrier from the front differential to access the seal. They had originally thought it was an outside seal but it turned out to be internal.
Vehicle maintenance is an important part of our sport. The club will sponsor more maintenance days with safety inspections that are open to all members of the club. This is an excellent opportunity for members who don't have the necessary tools, workspace or mechanical experience to perform routine repairs and maintenance to come out where other club members will gladly get themselves dirty to help.
