Met & left Mustang Corners. No problems on the way to Tucson. First stop was Circle K at Speedway and Houghton, for gas and last real restroom use. First problem of the trip was that Glenn had a dead battery. Electronic problems again. That put it at 2 weekends in a row. We had everyone else go the real meeting place Circle K on Redington. We got Glenn to the closest Checker store for the battery problem. At this point we were running behind on time so we called ahead, and had the rest of the group start to the trail head. (2 of us can travel faster than the main group.)

We caught the group at the start of the trail. And after some quick hello's and introductions, we hit the trail. At this point we were informed that Dewey and Dana had a leaky fuel pump. So they headed into town for some good redneck repairs, while we headed out to the trail. Everything was going fine as we came to Three Feathers and watched a smaller group of bashers play. We continued on to our journey and decided we would play at Three Feathers later. We made our way to the Cottonwoods(some of you need to check this place out at night, it will remind you of the Blair Witch Project!) From there we went to the cut off of the Falls. Not much water that we were hoping for. So we decided to have a quick lunch. Jim and Coyote Dave traveld further to the Falls. Then decided to join us again, of course hanging behind some Bisbee boys who broke. But they finally got around. We headed up the hill where I was the leader. Took a bad line on a side hill. And of course the faithful wife bailed. Hanging sideways is just not her thing. With a heavy lean to the down side and not feeling too comfortable with not having a whole lot of time in the Jeep seat. Left front tire off the ground. Denise (Dewey & Dana's) daughter was a glutin for punishment and toughed out the ride. Mona bailed out for pictures she says, I think not! They say from the outside it really didn't look to bad, but from the inside it didn't feel good. So I asked Jim for a tow rope for safety reasons. We moved on up to the top, waited for everyone else to make it to the top and collect their wits, some others had problems that I didn't see, but I see that my wife did get some pictures so maybe she was telling the truth. With running late on the the time we decided to take the Y to the left and take the short loop instead of the longer route, so we would have some time to play more in the daylight hours. We made our way back down to the river bottom and then on to Three Pools. Some took the rocky river bottom which is sometimes under water, and much more challenging and some took the road on the side. Made our way to the pools where some decided to play on the rocks. Bryan was just having a blast. Some decided to climb on the rocks, and check out the pools and sun bathers. (Those dirty old men!) Short breaks and pictures and headed back the way we came. And unlike Dave this was a planned dead end! Made our way back to the Cottonwoods by way of river bottom (rock garden). Which completed our loop. Still no water, which did not make it so tuff. As we waited for the last to get over the rocks, my son Steven came running past the jeep acting like he had to go potty really bad, but only to realize he took a tumble down the rocks and left some skin on the rock and gave us a bare knee. At this point we were trying to decide whether to bandage him up or amputate the leg. Dave and Jim were looking for utensils to do the job. But the first aid kit did the trick. Steven then told us he would have hit his head on his tumble adventure but that the big bag of goldfish crackers saved his head from breaking! Crackers didn't fair so well. Looked like a bag full of fishy dust. (Remember GOLDFISH for later!) Onwards to the Cottonwoods turning up out of the river heading towards Three Feathers, we passed a small group of large Jeeps. Jim hung out for a few minutes to chat and then caught up with us. Back to Three feathers and nothing but parking lot and a traffic jam! (we thought Phoenix was bad!) And by now the bashers we saw on the way in were acting a little intoxicated and started shouting advice whether it was needed or wanted. Mitch and Bryan went the more difficult way up, but did very well. The rest of us to a fairly hard way up. Dana took the chute! Way to go Dana! Glen also opted to go this way and did very well. Bob made several trys and ended going up the easier way up along with Rob in the Bronco. Dewey wanted to go down the chute, not quite sure what he was thinking but he found out what it was like to fly a little. I guess he just wanted to see if the cherokee could stand on its head! We watched for a bit and an old Bronco came straight up at us, a vertical climb with a couple of steps. Made it look so easy! From there we headed back to the road to air up and hook up sway bars. Planned for the return trip home. Now does everyone remember the Goldfish? I am sure Susan would like to forget! As Mona was telling Susan about what Steven said about the Goldfish crackers saving his head. She asked very curiously, " Your carrying goldfish with you?" This is definitly a nominee for the blond award. Had a good group with some great weather. Hope everyone had a blast!

Our group consisted of:

  • Tom, Mona & Steven in the cherokee
  • Bob, Glenn, Jerry & Patty, Mitch & Susan, Lutz & Lucky, Young man and dog(whose names we did not get)all in TJ's.
  • Jim minus family in his J pickup
  • Marty in the Scrambler
  • Rob(hopefully a new mbr) in a very nice bronco
  • Bryan, Dave and Darrell in some Toys
  • Dewey, Dana & Denise in a Cherokee with son and friends in a YJ.
  • Past member Tom Reninger in his Dodge
  • And a friend from Tucson, Jimmy in his Rhino which Steven got a chance to test his driving skills.

 If anyone was forgotten, sorry.
